The Safe Shelter Philosophy

Ending domestic and sexual violence against all survivors requires social change and adequate resources; these should promote equality through individual, institutional and cultural changes.

To this end Safe Shelter, Inc. will:

• Be committed to non-violence.

• Provide and promote services that are empowering and encourage self determination.

• Advocate for state and local policies and procedures that hold the assailants accountable.

• Maintain adequate facilities, staffing, equipment and resources to support the needs of our recipients.

• Provide leadership in the community for eliminating violence against women

• Encourage the leadership of women.
